Visiting Cuautla

Cuautla is a small town about an hour away from my hometown. Visiting the boy's family on the weekend meant a chance to explore the city center for a bit, which was interesting because I hadn't been there for about 20 years (please don't do the math).

The city is small but full of history. It features quite importantly during the war for Independence and is also the birthplace for the Zapatista movement: Zapata was born in a hacienda very close to Cuautla and from there launched his agrarian movement during the Revolution (1910-1921). His legacy leaves on not just here but all over the country; wherever there's a social cause you're bound to see his name or face attached to it.

We spent a nice day in Cuautla, in the sweltering heat but enjoying every minute of it.

How was your weekend?
